One of my favorite addictive things to do is to organize. It’s more of a healthy obsession than anything else but it does help keep a house of 5 people in some sort of order. Things can turn a little crazy if the mister and I can’t find our car keys and none of the kids have packed their backpacks for school so we’re scrambling to find homework and agendas. So the keys go up on the leaning shelf in a pretty oriental tray and backpacks are always packed before teeth get brushed at bedtime. And in between all of that I write everything down – sounds a little overwhelming but my planners keep all the details in place.
Recently Me and My Big Ideas released the sweetest collection of Mini Happy Planners and I happen to come across a black, white and gold themed one that I absolutely fell in love with.
I love the layout and really wanted to add a cover to it – for added support and to be able to store some other items in extra pocket space – but had no luck with finding any in stock so I enlisted my handy husband to diy a little something for me. We used this gold planner by Recollections that I had gotten on clearance from Michael’s a few weeks ago and it turned out to be just what I needed. My husband used a drill and heavy duty wire cutters to remove the metal binder rings.
The Mini Happy Planner fit in nice and snug with the back cover slid into the back pocket of the planner cover. I decided not to tuck the front cover in just because it’s so fun and cute to look at.
Also added a small pocket folder to the inside of the front cover to hold things like receipts, coupons or extra stickers. It has two adhesive strips on the back which made it really easy to put on and the glue seems pretty strong so I don’t think it’ll be coming off anytime soon.
On the inside of the first month that I started with I just added some fun and inspirational things since I started a little ways after the month started. I did add some monthly goals – regular workouts, a.m. smoothies, lunch dates (because who doesn’t like lunch dates?!) – but for the month of November I’ll get to fill in lots of the spaces due to the upcoming holidays and my husband’s birthday. And the quoted opposite page is where the month starts. One thing I love about this planner is that it is undated so you can start wherever and whenever you need to.
So that’s my mini planner setup – for now.
So what’s your favorite planner to use? At this point I am pretty satisfied with the versatility of the Happy Planner products but I’d love to hear about other options out there.
