We’ve come to the conclusion that we need to make mini/monthly bucket lists if we want to get anything out of our daily norm accomplished. We both run busy schedules – I am a full-time student, among other things, and Nilton (that wonderful guy I’m married to) has a retail management schedule – so sometimes making a last minute plan is just too late – don’t like setting myself up for that type of disappointment! So here’s what we had in mind for the month.
We’ve been looking forward to taking a day trip with all of the upcoming days the kids will be out of school – thinking St. Augustine or the Florida caverns really – we haven’t settled on a day (or place) for sure just yet but that’s half the fun of being able to just get in the car and drive knowing you can be back home within a couple of hours.
holiday shopping & birthday celebration
Admittedly we’ve already started shopping for holiday gifts – it’s so tricky when you have little ones and quite the “no-brainer” if you run across a sale – but it pays off because we aren’t stuck waiting in those holiday lines or worried about last minute shopping. We ease right into the fun stuff! And Nilton turns 43 years old this month – I love putting as many candles on his cake as I can fit and since he is expecting homemade carrot cake this year I get to have a little fun putting it all together.
Meal planning for thanksgiving
We love to spend quality time together as a family so we take advantage of the time we have off by trying out new recipes and getting creative in the kitchen with more traditional ones.
We love hanging lights and decorating with ornaments. We try to save putting up our tree for last but in the coming weeks we’ll start with the outside and work our way indoors.
Head to a fair or two. It’s my dream to have funnel cake at least once a year and the cooler the evening temps get the more likely we are to venture out to fair for some fun.
Lots of hot cocoa
We are just those type of people – you know, the ones who have to set up a hot cocoa bar and curl up to watch classic holiday movies and shows. We roll out marshmallows, caramel, cinnamon, peppermint sticks, chocolate bars…you get the idea right? Everyone gets to personalize their beverage and it has been known to lead us straight into a sugar fueled decorating session.
