Being the Lover of Mascara that I am I had to pick up this three dollar tube of wonder by e.l.f. Mascara is probably the one makeup product I purchase at least every other month. I do my best not to keep more than 4 or 5 open at a time because once they’ve been opened + used it’s mostly a use it or lose it kind of deal.
I did a before + after really for my own piece of mind. I never pay much attention to my lashes until I realize I’ve stepped out without mascara. It’s right up there with forgetting to put on earrings, I will go back to correct my error! I really feel kind of naked in a non-liberating way when I forget to put on mascara. I don’t like it at all but I can + will go without eye liner + sometimes even eye shadow, just gotta have the mascara.
What I love most about this is the lash wand, it’s a wand right? I would say brush but to me that means something entirely different that never goes inside a mascara tube. It has this crazy shape to it with a ball shaped tip that can get in there + grab each eye lash. Good for me because I always have the worst time getting at the corner lashes with a standard shaped one.
The “before” picture isn’t terrible or anything but just knowing my lashes can be so much more forces me to happily swipe on some of the good stuff nearly daily. I have some navy blue shadow on from paula dorf new york. Forgive the thing stick out the side of my head I was talking to my hubby on the phone. Nothing like multi-tasking!
The “after” results don’t leave much to be desired though. The mascara formula itself is a little on the loose side for my taste because it takes more than a few quick seconds to dry + I of course swiped it on like I was using something I was already familiar with. Overall though loved the brush (wand?) + the next time I use it I’ll wait a little longer between adding coats (I used two). In my honest beauty junkie opinion this did lengthen, define + volumize my lashes so I’m really happy with it. Thinking of picking up another tube just to have as a back up but I’m definitely keeping this one on hand for the upcoming Summer season.
And I didn’t mention this earlier but it isn’t waterproof so I won’t be hitting the beach or pool with it but that’s actually a good thing. Some w.p. formulas can wreak havoc on your lashes, especially if it isn’t removed properly + completely. I usually use a little oil based remover to get that stuff off or a cream eye makeup remover.
Obviously this brand is cruelty free so if you’re looking to try something new you really can’t go wrong here.
